minnie's journey
I had two puppies left to give away. A friend took them both last night. They were sweet brother and sister puppies and they're 4 months old. They'd been promised as soon as these folks moved into another place, so we knew all along they'd soon be leaving. He lives 3 or 4 miles away from us. Today I look up and see the girl puppy back home in front of me wagging her curly tail like nothing's the matter at all. She'd been on a journey across two major highways and through woods and mountains and sub-divisions to get back to us here at the only home she's ever known in her short life. It was only a month or so ago I had to get them out from behind a fence, because they didn't know how to find their way around it. We, of course, called the guy who had picked her up yesterday and he told us he was still hunting for her. We persuaded him to let us have the puppy back. My husband is still dumbfounded over the telepathy he says the dog must possess. But I'm blown away by the 'force' that guided her back home. I really didn't get terribly attached to Minnie before she left. But now I'm so moved by her fierce determination and spirit that I can think of little else.... Minnie had an incredible journey; and she took my heart to a place I'll not soon forget.
