Halliburton May Be Culprit in Oil Rig Explosion.

While its easy to put all the blame on those obnoxious fish and chip eating, tea sipping monarchists. One person freshly appointed as de-facto president in 2000, the former CEO of Halliburton DICK Cheney was in the perfect position to encourage and perhaps fudge a few regulations on deep water drilling for his old company Halliburton. The construction of the rig began in 2001 and Halliburton had the vital responsibility for doing the sloppiest job as possible in sealing the pipes with cement, a job that may have caused one of the largest environmental disasters in human history.

Fuck Capturing that Mess; Make it STOP!

If I'm boiling mad over that clusterfuck in the Gulf and heading east, I can imagine how pissed the residents are.

What gets me the most is that BP and their many attempts (both tried and discussed) so far have been to try to SAVE as much oil as possible. And I'll just bet that they haven't even considered any options to make it stop.

Dick Durbin went to the floor of the Senate on Thursday night to denounce the vice president as "delusional."

It was shocking, and Senator Durbin should be ashamed of himself.

Delusional is far too mild a word to describe Dick Cheney. Delusional doesn't begin to capture the profound, transcendental one-flew-over daftness of the man.

Has anyone in the history of the United States ever been so singularly wrong and misguided about such phenomenally important events and continued to insist he's right in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary?

Bless His Heart

{Bless His Heart}

In the South, we have this phrase that has several different meanings. It doesn't take others long to catch on.

I first heard it from my Father. He was referring to a divorcee down the street who had taken to too many cocktails for breakfast. And for lunch and dinner. "Bless her heart. After Curtis left her, she's not been able to cope." Fine. It's a term of endearment.

I later discovered Bless her heart took on different connotations. It was mean-spirited when said about the ugly girl who tryed out for homecoming queen. "Bless her heart. She thinks she's got a chance." Are you really being warm and sincere? Or is it more like you want to give a shit, but don't have it in you to do so?

It can be endearing as in, "Bless his heart, he's trying so hard to ride that bicycle".

It can dress up the snarkiest remark, express sincerest regrets, or upmost respect. But it can also be confusing to outsiders until you learn to recognize it's use as both compliment and criticism.

Like this degree of audacity when Bless his heart can be interchangeable with things like, Poor Bastard, or What An Asshole. As in "Bless his heart, (Poor Bastard,) Dick Cheney actually thinks we believe all those lies he's been telling us."
