No matter how much you bend over backwards catering to their mythology of bipartisanship, they`re never going to give you anything in return. Some lauded your recent move to open up oil drilling as some sort of brilliant gambit, but what are you expecting to gain by catering to right wing mythology? Never have we needed something in the US so badly. I am one of the working poor who desperately need health care but can't afford it. Simply put: If you don't have to worry about how you're going to pay for your medicine and your doctor visits you can't know how important this is to those of us who do worry about it.

At an event in Laramie, Wyoming, on Saturday, Vice President Dick Cheney said he will cast his ballot for the McCain-Palin ticket.

"I'd like to congratulate Sen. McCain on this endorsement because, he really earned it. That endorsement didn't come easy," according to the remarks. "George Bush may be in an undisclosed location, but Dick Cheney's out there on the campaign trail because he'd be delighted to pass the baton to John McCain."

Obama continues, "He knows that with John McCain, you get a twofer: George Bush's economic policy and Dick Cheney's foreign policy. But that's a risk we cannot afford to take."

Dozens Of Call Center Workers Walk Off Job In Protest Rather Than Read McCain Script Attacking Obama

Some three dozen workers at a telemarketing call center in Indiana (Americall - (630) 955-9100) walked off the job rather than read an incendiary McCain campaign script attacking Barack Obama, according to two workers at the center and one of their parents.

Nina Williams, a stay-at-home mom in Lake County, Indiana, tells us that her daughter recently called her from her job at the center, upset that she had been asked to read a script attacking Obama for being "dangerously weak on crime," "coddling criminals," and for voting against "protecting children from danger."

Williams' daughter told her that up to 40 of her co-workers had refused to read the script, and had left the call center after supervisors told them that they would have to either read the call or leave, Williams says. The call center is called Americall, and it's located in Hobart, IN.

Since Colin Powell crossed party lines to endorse Barack Obama last Sunday, a steady stream of prominent Republicans have endorsed the Illinois senator over rival John McCain.

Former Massachusetts Gov. William Weld is endorsing Obama today at a press conference in Salem, N.H. Weld was a public supporter of Mitt Romney in the Republican primaries. In a statement, Weld called Obama a “once-in-a-lifetime candidate who will transform our politics and restore America’s standing in the world.”

On Thursday, former Minnesota Gov. Arne Carlson endorsed Obama at the state capitol. “I think we have in Barack Obama the clear possibility of a truly great president,” he said. “I would contend that it’s the most important election of my lifetime.”

Scott McClellan, a former spokesman for President George W. Bush, also endorsed Obama Thursday. USA Today reported that McClellan told CNN in a taping to be aired this weekend that Obama has “the best chance of changing the way Washington works.”

Ken Adelman, a prominent conservative on foreign policy matters announced his support for Obama on Tuesday, telling the New Yorker that his decision was based on temperament and judgment.

Adelman called McCain “impetuous, inconsistent, and imprudent; ending up just plain weird” in his handling of the U.S. economic crisis. He also was unsettled by McCain’s choice of running mate. “Not only is Sarah Palin not close to being acceptable in high office—I would not have hired her for even a mid-level post in the arms-control agency,” Adelman wrote.

UPDATE: Add Charles Fried, a Harvard Law professor and former Solicitor General in the Reagan administration, to the list of Republicans supporting Obama. Fried’s vote for the Democratic ticket is particularly harsh, as he was associated with the McCain campaign. Fried voted absentee for Obama this week, and informed McCain campaign general counsel Trevor Potter of his decision in a letter where he stated he could not support McCain in large part because of his selection of Palin as his running mate.

Senator McCain. Was this the moment? The epiphany? The realization that stoking the flames of bigotry and fear had come home to roost?

As I watched your town hall gathering, I wondered what was going through your mind when you came face to face with the incendiary results of your campaign tactics. What did you see and feel when that elderly woman said Obama was an Arab? Or the man who said he feared an Obama presidency? And all the others?

I saw your face. I watched your body language as you took the microphone and quickly distanced yourself from that one.

At that moment, did you see your reflection in the mirror of her eyes? A reflection, not of a maverick, but a pariah? Did you see the decades of American scar tissue? Birmingham? Burning crosses? The noose? Did you see that awful year in American history when Dr. King and Bobby Kennedy were assassinated, cut down in the prime of their dreams for a better America?

Did you hear the echo of Dr. King's words about being "judged not by the color of their skin, but the content of their character," and suddenly realize that it was not your opponent's character in question - but yours?

... No doubt, the media will genuflect before your image and be pushed by your campaign spinners to reanoint you as a maverick and honorable man in rising to the defense of your opponent. But your ads still sully the airwaves. Your surrogates still spew their venom. After all, this is just politics. People need to understand that. Nothing personal - it is just politics.

But here was this moment. And you know it, regardless of whether or not you were reading from cue cards or just looking down to avoid having to face the ugliness before you - you know.

Proud to vote for you, Barack Obama

In 30 days I'll vote for Barack Obama.

He can put us back in a respectful global light as the US regains her standing around the world. We will proudly maintain that.

I learned long ago not to go by what someone says, but rather to know them by what they do and by the content of their character.

Barack Obama's life speaks volumes about his character and his ability to empathize with regular people. I know that his heart is in it and that when he says he'll fix health care and work on education, I know that he does it because it's the right thing to do. Not the right thing to say. We've seen him put his own needs aside to help those less fortunate. To me, that's what Democrats do. We put individuals first.

Barack Obama has raised the bar higher than it's ever been raised in my voting career, which goes back to my first vote for George S McGovern for President.

He's refused to play dirty politics-- even when he has dipped in the polls. That's a testament to character and it's rarely seen at this juncture of the presidential election process. It goes far beyond how most people would handle it and is one of the reasons we don't need any Joe 6-Pack as president.

I want someone better than myself at the White House, not my equal. Someone with impeccable character and morals. Besides, how well did that last Joe 6-Pack pRezident work out anyway?

More experienced in voting against the G.I. Bill (the one he lyingly claims he really supported). More experienced in voting against any kind of bill that would benefit the reeling middle classes. More experienced in voting for any kind of bill that sends more money to his dark masters—big oil, big business and big government.

He's also more experienced in supporting the Iraq war. Gotta take out those weapons of mass... oops, sorry, never mind. He's more experienced in handing multinational corporations big fat tax breaks while the middle class struggles desperately to keep a roof over its head and food on the table and a job in its future. He’s more experienced in hiring greedy corporate lobbyists to run his campaign. He's more experienced in having advisors who call us a "nation of whiners" and more experienced in savagely dissing anyone who doesn’t agree with the reactionary Repug policies.

He’s more experienced in demeaning women. He dumped his first wife, Carol, after a horrific car crash in which she was badly disfigured, crippled and put on weight as a result; he called his rodeo-beauty-queen second wife, Cindy, a cunt in public, and only the other day he suggested that she should compete in a topless beauty contest.

He’s more experienced in being a pig. Ross Perot, who paid Carol McCain’s huge medical bills all those years ago, now believes that both she and the American people have been taken in by a man who is unusually slick and cruel – even by the standards of modern politics. “McCain is the classic opportunist. He’s always reaching for attention and glory,” Perot says. “After he came home [from North Vietnam] Carol walked with a limp. So he threw her over for a poster girl with big money from Arizona.
