Prada Rehab Rock - Damien Hirst and his ex-junkie friend Antony Genn team up to rock out Fashion Week (soberly). link

Stripes, Harlequin, Rubber, Vinyl are themes of Designer Gareth Pugh. His creations are more akin to fetishwear than fashion, but that's a bad thing, why? The old guard aren't sure whether to salute him or shoot him. Fall/Winter 2007 collection hereand Spring 2007 here.

Big City Orchestrae will be heading to Europe in September for their first tour overseas in six years! Great news, Ninah Pixie! link

This graying hippie makes the nightly, winding climb 18 feet to her cozy bedroom. She wakes to roosters' crows and the scents of dewy soil. Over breakfast, her view is a jungle of towering trees, no hint of hustle and bustle.

Shawnee Chasser lives in a treehouse above a secret garden in the middle of Miami. For 15 years, she has lived atop the 1.5-acre nirvana of green trees and farm animals behind a row of houses 10 minutes from downtown. And she advertises on Craigslist and rents out rooms for $380 a month. Really. link

ADP - Bob Dylan has given the go-ahead for a big-screen movie about his life. Director Todd Haynes is searching for a black woman to play Dylan -- she will be one of seven different actors who will portray the musician during different eras of his career. Todd Haynes, the Oscar-nominated director, confirmed last week that he is searching for a woman who can do justice to the short white Jewish singer’s 'inner blackness', although the producers aren't convinced. Costing £30m, the film is due for release next year under the title, I’m Not There: Suppositions on a Film Concerning Dylan. [more...] (ADP-Another Dylan Post)

Today's Quote
Dance, when you’re broken open.
Dance, if you’ve torn the bandage off.
Dance, in the middle of fighting.
Dance in your blood.
Dance, when you are perfectly free.

In your light I learn how to love.
In your beauty, how to make poems.
You dance inside my chest, where no one sees you.
But sometimes I do, and that sight becomes this art.

What a great day to begin Mabon, or Autumn Equinox.

Is that a fire over there? Or just the smoke from Gray Davis' pen after his well-timed signing of so much legislation lately? For my CA friends, does it seem to you he's trying to appease everyone lately?

General Clark takes instant lead days after entering Democratic race. Just indicates to me the that the democratic nomination for President will continue to surprise us for some time to come.

Daily Rumi Quote

Many of the faults you see in others, dear reader, are your own nature reflected in them. As the Prophet said, 'The faithful are mirrors to one another'.

::Does This Blog Make My Ass Look Fair And Balanced? Fox News filed suit against humorist Al Franken, and Lisa at Ruminate This decided to go with a new tagline on her website. I may change my tagline from "Does This Blog Make My Ass Look Big?" to "Does This Blog Make My Ass Look Fair And Balanced?" This exercise is reminiscent of Davezilla and a company that sent him the 'cease and desist' letter for using a picture similar to Mozilla's logo on his site. Soon blogtopia was inundated with "zillas" in his support.

Quote For Today

As human beings, we share what is real. Joy, sorrow, care, courage, and tenderness are real. Tears are real, and so is laughter. These are the currency of the heart. They are meant to be exchanged.

Art For Housewives. And take a look at Cynthia's other sites; she's very talented.

I clicked on a blog a few days ago, and while I was reading on my 'sadu' (slow-ass dial-up), there were 109 items remaining or still loading. One hundred and nine more items to wait on. This wasn't one of those great sites with beautiful art work links and displays. This was content I was waiting on. Words. I've got one word for you folks... DUMBASS! ARCHIVES! Make some more pages. I suppose I could spring for a cable modem or gasp!, something faster. Our rule of thumb around here is this: the internet and it's monthly $$ amount shouldn't excede the cable tv monthly $$ amount. So help a 'sadu' blogger out, won't ya?

Peace...

Over 10 million people worldwide in 603 cities are expected to rally this weekend against a war on Iraq. Huge rallies all over---London, Tokyo, Sydney, and in New York, near the UN at noon today. It seems like it'll be the largest turnout yet against going to war in Iraq. Over 500,000 people expected in London's Hyde Park today. {this bbc news site is full of updated worldwide protest info, msnbc also has a good link.}

Blogging Around

A fine cartoonist in the liberal vein, with great cartoons, content, and links is Alas, A Blog. And, Kevin at InContemptComics, also takes the anti-war view in his drawings. Excellent work. Jeff has nice peace-ful links posted today. Buy an inexpensive peace pin. {via:kaneblues}

Vote To Impeach Bush, seen at Different Strings.

TAKING A STAND ON IRAQ

And a vast paranoia sweeps across the land

And America turns the attack on its Twin Towers

Into the beginning of the Third World War

The war with the Third World

And the terrorists in Washington

Are drafting all the young men

And no one speaks

And they are rousting out

All the ones with turbans

And they are flushing out

All the strange immigrants

And they are shipping all the young men

To the killing fields again

And no one speaks

And when they come to round up

All the great writers and poets and painters

The National Endowment of the Arts of Complacency

Will not speak

While all the young men

Will be killing all the young men

In the killing fields again

So now is the time for you to speak

All you lovers of liberty

All you lovers of the pursuit of happiness

All you lovers and sleepers

Deep in your private dreams

Now is the time for you to speak

O silent majority

Before they come for you

~ Lawrence Ferlinghetti
