"The Jeff Beck "Official Bootleg USA '06" was originally produced to sell at Jeff's summer shows in America in 2006 as part of the tour merchandise. However the interest in the CD has gone beyond all expectations. We’d rather people had an original copy than were forced to buy a bootleg version or pay inflated prices on eBay. Therefore, due to the overwhelming demand and huge number of requests we’ve had from people trying to get their hands on a copy, we are going to get another batch of CDs manufactured which we hope to have available in the coming weeks."

Former Yardbirds guitarists Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck recently reunited for a photo shoot for U.K.'s Mojo magazine. On stands Thursday, July 15, the issue comes with a CD The Roots of Led Zeppelin, which features 15 tracks that inspired one of the hardest rock bands of all time. The issue also features an exclusive interview with Page and Beck talking about the first time they met to their incredible careers with Led Zeppelin and the Jeff Beck Group respectively. The 15-page feature story also has a section on the top 10 essential blues albums chosen by Eric Clapton. Sure like to be able to find this copy of Mojo magazine.



Former Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page and his wife, Jimena, introduced a new geography teaching resource called Streets of Brazil on last week that provides U.K. students with information about the plight of homeless or needy Brazilian children. Jimena Page is the founder of Action for Brazil's Children Trust.



Keith Richards performed at two California benefit concerts over the weekend paying tribute to his late friend, country-rock pioneer Gram Parsons. During the shows, the Rolling Stones guitarist duetted with pop chanteuse Norah Jones, covered the Parsons-penned Byrds tune "Hickory Wind" and led a star-studded sing-along of the Stones' "Wild Horses." "He opened doors," Richards said of Parsons, who died at age 26 in 1973." Link

I heard Beck's Bolero this morning and began wondering...WEHT Jeff Beck? He was a Guitar God when I was younger. Each release was anticipated with extreme excitement and repetitive playing until the grooves wore down on the lp or the 8-track tape unfurled.



He still turns out great music; most recently Jeff in Aug 2003 and he won his 4th grammy in February for Plan B.



:: Robin Sylar - The Texas axe-man's blues cred is impeccable: says Ken Shimamoto. Sylar has played with Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Doyle Bramhall. Say no more. Where can I get a listen?



:: Local guitar wizard and Asheville native, Warren Haynes, is the Dave Grohl of southern rock; a busy guy. He's currently in Government Mule, also plays lead for the Allman Brothers, and is playing with the Dead tour this summer. He's mighty damn good and just the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet and stops by every now and then to play the local music rooms with his friends.

Good Morning. I couldn't get Skyler up this morning. I tried every five minutes. She finally got up at 9 and I just took her to school. Speaking of her, this morning the keyboard had rice on it. Friday, already? But I haven't gotten enough done yet to call it a week. It's Aloha Friday, too.



I was talking to a writer-teacher neighbor yesterday and we were talking about whoever it was that said, "There's a book in everyone." I'll go that one further with this eye-opener I saw later on a weblog. (the word "blog" just doesn't roll off the tongue, does it? Sounds like it rolls from some place else.) "Stop hiding your personality with a list of links." Youch. I'm working on it.

First Annual SF Flip Off, Wednesday. We sit in a circle and flip each other off with both hands, and eyes closed. There's many pending FlashMob, SmartMobs, scheduled here. {Dallas, Toronto, Philly, Orange County, & more} I suppose it's legit. You can sign up and when one comes to your metro area, you'll be notified.



Justin Timberlake may not be a Stones' fan crowd pleaser, but to pelt him with water bottles was in very poor taste. I watched a clip of him live that evening and I thought he looked like he'd been crying. I don't care for his music, and would have taken that opportunity to find a port-a-potty, or grab some of that bbq. Although I did boo an act once when I was about 18. I went to see the Allman Brothers (Southern Rock) and Billy Joe Royal (Pop) opened the show, so he caught the our collective "hurry up and get yo ass off stage so we can see the Allman Brothers" wrath. Now that I'm almost a grownup, I see how idiotic it was to do that.



Jeff Beck has an album releasing on August 5. I think of Beck's Bolero whenever I see his name. Still have that album in safe-keeping, I hope. Or is that one of yours, Robin?

Rumor has it that Queen have tapped singer George Michael to replace late frontman Freddie Mercury for a possible 2003 reunion tour. I don't know that anyone should fill in for Freddie Mercury.



Former Yardbirds guitarist Jeff Beck and ex-Doobie Brothers/Steely Dan member Jeff "Skunk" Baxter have been confirmed as guest musicians on Birdland, the first Yardbirds release in 35 years. The two join a group of previously announced contributors including Queen's Brian May, Toto's Steve Lukather and former Guns N' Roses axe-man Slash. The album is due April 22.
