The Girls Who Kicked in Rock’s Door
THE most striking thing about "The Runaways," a new film about the trailblazing bad-girl rock band from the 1970s that spawned Joan Jett, is how authentic it feels. The clubs are properly scuzzy. The dialogue is properly raunchy. The actors can properly sing. The hair is fried and feathered, the skin spotty from weeks of running on little but potato chips and estrogen.
Floria Sigismondi, 44, earned her first big buzz as a video director in 1997 after strapping Marilyn Manson into stilts and gruesome dental gear for the "Beautiful People" clip. She looks like a rock star herself, dressed in slim-fitting black pants and a black sweater, her long, slightly-goth hair fanning over a furry caveman vest. Simultaneously cool and effervescent, she is easy to imagine directing arty musicians like Bjork, Sigur Ros and Interpol as well as pop divas like Christina Aguilera, which she did.

I never cared much about "The Runaways" except for Lita Ford's most excellent guitar playing. I'm way more excited about the fact that Floria Sigismondi directed the film. She's got the magic touch.
Speaking unto an audience of anti-immigration advocates, global-warming deniers, and members of the Tea Party Nation, former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin gave forth utterances Monday that reportedly opened the sixth seal of the Book of the Apocalypse.
"Wow, it's good to be here, just shootin' the breeze with a bunch of real, hardworking Americans who love their freedom," said Palin, her words echoing across the Idaho Falls Civic Auditorium as mighty tremors caused great unrest beneath the land and the sea. "So are the little guys like you and me gonna fight these Washington insiders with their big government agenda? You betcha we are!"
And lo, there was then a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair; and the moon became as blood; and "gosh" was spoken repeatedly; and the stars of heaven fell upon the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken by a mighty wind.
Those Palin supporters' thunderous applause drowned out the sound of the foretold cataclysm. And those not swallowed up by sudden fissures in the earth's crust remained to chant anti-Democratic slogans. These fuckers are the majority in the US.

I just want to meet her and talk with her and find out what makes her tick. She's seems like a really sweet lady. She's an original and her items aren't for everyone, to be sure, but I just can't stop looking at her things. 
With celebrity and royal custies she's a global force of capitalism and happily-ever-after. At first blush it looks like someone swallowed rainbows and shit roses and Kewpie dolls but further observation reveals damn fine design elements so I have to give it to her for finding a niche market and for squeezing that fucker for all it's worth.

ABC's George Stephanopoulos called Tiger's little speech "one of the most remarkable public apologies ever by a public figure." Clearly, Stephanopolous might more of a mental fluffball than anyone originally thought.
Dick Cheney slithering forth and apologizing for being a cancerous, warmongering monster whose brutal profiteering and shriveled soul cost thousands of young American lives? The GOP stepping out and admitting they killed health care reform because they really wanted to ding the scary black president, and don't really give a flying crap about your sick and uninsured children? Now those would be remarkable public apologies. A comatose golfer saying he's sorry for nailing some hookers whilst his family rolls around in $500 million worth of Escalades, diamond-crusted teaspoons and Swiss ski chalets? Not a remarkable apology. Clear?
