My daughter and her friends have gone to see HellBoy. And I'm here watching the NCAA Playoffs. GA Tech just won and the U-Conn/Duke game just began.

I've really been slack about blog visiting lately so I've got to catch up on reading some of my blogroll favorites tonight while watching the basketball game and more tomorrow when time permits.

{Film News} Singer Pink to star in Joplin film. We've discussed this before. Renee Zellweger will play her in another movie about Janis. Previously, Melissa Etheridge and Brittany Murphy had tried for the role. (2 movies coming about Janis)

Duke plays U-Conn tonight for a chance for all the marbles, following the Oklahoma State - Georgia Tech game at 6:00 pm est. It'll be a miracle if Duke prevails. A miracle, I tell you. They're the underdogs this time.

{Local News} A murder mystery with an internet/website connection. Near my home in North Carolina, a fireman's burned, dead body was found on his property. Part of it. His limbs were found on the Blue Ridge Parkway. His wife is charged with his murder and his writer and website editor son, Donn Gash, of Deviant Minds, is being questioned as they note his fascination with homicide and horror, after investigating his website. Is he only under suspicion because he has an interest in horror? Creepy shit. [ link] (his info has been taken down from the site, but Google has him all over the place)

Between 1964 and 1973 the United States conducted a secret air war, dropping over 2 million tons of bombs and making tiny Laos the most heavily bombed country in history. Millions of these cluster bombs did not explode when dropped, leaving the country massively contaminated with “bombies” as dangerous now as when they fell a quarter century ago. BOMBIES examines the problem of unexploded cluster bombs through the personal experiences of a group of Laotians and foreigners, and argues for their elimination as a weapon of war. Unfortunately they are still a standard part of the US arsenal and were dropped both in Kosovo and Afghanistan.

Because the United States signed the 1962 Geneva Accords prohibiting American military involvement in Laos, the bombing, organized by President Kennedy, the CIA and the Air Force, was kept secret, both from Congress and from the American people, to pursue a covert strategy for ridding the countryside of Communists.

You won't see this on mainstream television. Premiere: Friday, 4/9 @ 8PM ET / 5PM PT - LinkTV

:: {Quote For Today}

"The media are finished with their big blowouts on the anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, and there is one thing they forgot to say: We're sorry. Sorry we let unsubstantiated claims drive our coverage. Sorry we were dismissive of experts who disputed White House charges against Iraq. Sorry we let a band of self-serving Iraqi defectors make fools of us. Sorry we fell for Colin Powell's performance at the United Nations. Sorry we couldn't bring ourselves to hold the administration's feet to the fire before the war, when it really mattered. Maybe we'll do a better job next war." - Rick Mercier in a column published Sunday in The Free Lance-Star.

:: GMail. What a blatantly bogus riff that was/is. I mean they announce it on April Fool's Day, aka Saint Stupid Day, (which Pixie celebrated in a big way). It's gotta be a prank, so when are they going to cop to it?

National "I'm Embarrassed by My President" Day, April 1st.

Are you embarrassed by the arrogance, greed, shortsightedness, selfishness, and outright lies told by George W. Bush and his administration? Join tens of thousands of others across the country and world and wear a brown armband or ribbon to symbolize all the BS coming out of the White House. This is satire, but I like the concept. :: We had our grass cut last Saturday. Would you say that's a sure-fire Spring indicator? I'm still enjoying Air America Radio. Even my slow-ass dial-up picks it up nicely. I like how each show is versatile with unique hosts that keep it fresh. I'm so ready for this format and it looks like it's going to do quite well. Any minute speck of hope that can pierce the Bush Bubble makes me very hopeful. They're speaking with Christopher Hitchens now.
