"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character..." I still cannot see or hear these words without some formidable reaction--- tears, chills, quiet contemplation. August 28, 1963, and now coming up on the 40th Anniversary of Martin Luther King's "I Have A Dream" Speech which was celebrated this weekend. Race relations still have a long way to go to make that dream a reality; but the seed was planted with King's influence on that August day in 1963. (Tom Paine site weighs in)

Today's Quotation

If you would cure anger, do not feed it. Say to yourself: "I used to be angry every day; then every other day; now only every third or fourth day." When you reach thirty days offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the gods.

~Epictetus (c. 55-c. 135 CE), Phrygian Stoic philosopher The Golden Sayings of Epictetus

Visiting this site is like one long orgy of euphoric joy.

SoBig.F Virus - I just put together that the SoBig virus was what jammed up my email box Wednesday. When I pulled up my email, I saw I had 238 emails and they were still coming in as fast as they could. With subject lines like, Your details, Thank you!, Re: Thank you!, Re: Details, Re: Re: My details, Re: Approved, Re: Your application, Re: Wicked screensaver or Re: That movie. And with 238 emails, I had them all. Luckily, I deleted all those emails. I never open anything if I don't recognize who it's from.

edited to add: Rock Stars and their Parents, 1971. Grace Slick, Frank Zappa, Ginger Baker, etc.

Good morning to you.

While Attorney General John Ashcroft distracts us by parading around the country touting the Patriot Act, the equally dangerous, overly broad Victory Act bill is making the rounds through Congressional offices. The full name of the bill is the Vital Interdiction of Criminal Terrorist Organizations Act of 2003. [via: talk left]

"Did a young woman every think you were homosexual just because you wouldn't have sex with her? Be serious! Were you ever taunted and made to feel bad or 'uncool' because of your choice? But most of all, be real. Kids can sense a phony a mile away." Inquired Al Franken of John Ashcroft recently to include in his upcoming book. [more]

Phish's Mike Gordon arrested for taking pictures of 9-year-old girl in a secluded boathouse after Jones Beach concert. The girl's father is described as a "Hells Angels leader." Are pervs more rampant now, or are we just more aware of them with all the media saturation?
