Army Dreamers
Our little army boy
Is coming home from B.F.P.O.
I've a bunch of purple flowers
To decorate a mammy's hero.

Mourning in the aerodrome,
The weather warmer, he is colder.
Four men in uniform
To carry home my little soldier.

'What could he do?
Should have been a rock star.'
But he didn't have the money for a guitar.
'What could he do?
Should have been a politician.'
But he never had a proper education.
'What could he do?
Should have been a father.'
But he never even made it to his twenties.

piece inspired by Kate Bush song, also goes to my
"Art of Mourning " series.

Alan Watts Podcast

Introduction to Zen 1 of 4

The AlanWatts.com website features free audio downloads, program lists, and information on Alan Watts life and works.

Alan Watts is one of the most widely read philosophers of the 20th century. In addition to his 28 books, Alan Watts delivered hundreds of public lectures and seminars the recordings of which have been preserved in the archives of the Electronic University, a non-profit organization dedicated to higher education.

For the past two years Alan's eldest son, Mark Watts, has reviewed and cataloged these talks to prepare them for public broadcast.

Here we go again. Another politician caught with his trousers down.

Does this seem like deja vu to you?

New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer has admitted involvement in a prostitution ring. This tight-lipped self righteous crusader gave a press conference with his wife by his side. I dare say she's tightened up as well.

Cross-Cultural Solutions or the Peace Corps?

What are some of the differences between CCS and the Peace Corps?

* Start Date & Length of Stay

The Peace Corps usually requires a minimum 2 year commitment. You will begin on a start date based on the country to which you are assigned.

At Cross-Cultural Solutions you can choose to volunteer from 1 to 12 weeks, and from start dates year-round. The CCS experience ensures that you get the most out of your experience in a relatively short period of time.

* Requirements

To join the Peace Corps, you must be a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years old; most Peace Corps volunteers have a college degree. Married couples are required to participate together, and those with dependents generally cannot participate.

Since CCS is an independent not-for-profit organization, we are able to welcome a wide range of participants to our programs. We accept citizens of any country, and from a wide range of ages and backgrounds. Families and groups are welcome and, 16 and 17 year-olds can participate under supervision as well.

Another great Canadian Import

Plants and Animals

Plants and Animals new full length release, Parc Avenue, is out in Canada on February 26, in the US on March 25.

From: Time Out New York - The first full-length from Plants and Animals, Parc Avenue, hits shelves in March and exhibits much of the epic orchestration and surging climaxes used by another Montreal band, the Arcade Fire. Depending on where you stand, it may or may not surprise you that Plants and Animals can do it better… more. --January 2008

My friend, Delaney, sent this to me this morning. It's a humorous but tender take on becoming a Mother for the first time while suffering from what scientists have now termed "mumnesia".

The Psychedelic World of Motherhood

There are whispered confessions of bliss, despair and frank ambivalence. "Sometimes I love her so much it hurts," reflected one friend, gazing down at her newborn daughter. "And sometimes it's just like I've been given a pet turtle."

I can feel myself slipping into a parallel universe: one where phrases such as Tumble Tots and Tiny Talk may actually mean something; where conversations that would once have seemed boring to the point of hilarity become an illicit pleasure; where a pale-faced stranger pushing a pram is no longer invisible, but draped in Boadicea's finery: a warrior-heroine in her own quiet way. Such is the psychedelia of motherhood - and this time, I'm told, the trip never ends.

Don't Forget Burma

The media spotlight above Burma is dimming by the day, hundreds of the peaceful protestors that took to the streets not long ago are still under arrest and are being tortured daily - now more than ever Burma needs your support.

Go to www.dontforgetburma.org to see the messages of support that have been left so far and leave your own! Some of them are inspirational - many of them are quite funny - all of them show that we haven't forgotten Burma.

Björk's Statement

i have been asked by many for a statement after dedicating my song "declare independence" to both kosovo and tibet ( amongst others ) on different occasions.

i would like to put importance on that i am not a politician, i am first and last a musician and as such i feel my duty to try to express the whole range of human emotions. the urge for declaring independence is just one of them but an important one that we all feel at some times in our lives. this song was written more with the personal in mind but the fact that it has translated to its broadest meaning, the struggle of a suppressed nation, gives me much pleasure .
i would like to wish all individuals and nations good luck in their battle for independence.

The Ambrosia Society

"Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I have spent more than 37 years researching the ancient Sacred mushroom today called Amanita muscaria. I discovered the secret reality behind the Sacred Myths and found them to be true. The Holy Grail is not a myth, but a living reality to those that know the secret. This Sacred Knowledge is our common birthright, it is our inheritance from our ancient fathers and mothers from the beginning of time. I founded the Ambrosia Society to preserve, expand and spread this knowledge for my brothers and sisters..."
