Remember when macrame was a huge fad? Was it in the mid 70's when it began? I made a handbag, and the obligatory plant hangers. Here's a site with macrame owls. Oh hell, I probably made them, too. Admit it. You did macrame, too, didn't you? They're so kitschy, they're probably fetching mucho dineros now. Anybody?

Yes, one more Stones Toronto concert picture and mention and I'm off to read all about last night's festivities, especially concerning Mick.

Good Wednesday morning to you. Yesterday was productive. We closed the deal on a house yesterday. Which means we can move almost immediately. Now the fun begins.....not.

Cheers, Queers! ...as Carson says. The Fab5 pulled off another super feat last night so a straight guy could propose to his girlfriend. Bravo tries to snag female viewers. Consider me snagged.

Start 'Em Up!

Stones gig to be broadcast live to troops overseas. Troops working overseas in places like Afghanistan, Bosnia and Egypt will get to see the 11-hour MuchMoreMusic program, noon to 11 p.m. through the Canadian Forces television network. Official Concert Site {Bands performing: The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, The Guess Who, Rush, Justin Timberlake, Sam Roberts, The Flaming Lips, Kathleen Edwards, The Isley Brothers, Sass Jordan, La Chicane}. Plus, hosts Dan Akroyd and Jim Belushi, and almost a half million (500,000) expected. I wonder who the suprise guests will be? McCartney, Sheryl Crow, Bono? The amazing price is $16.00 US; and they're setting up a 1/4 mile of barbeque. Pics and more links here. Next best thing to being there. Live updates and highlights.

Quote For Today

Love the earth and sun and animals,

Despise riches, give alms to everyone that asks,

Stand up for the stupid and crazy,

Devote your income and labor to others...

And your very flesh shall be a great poem.

Ideally, I'd like to see Saddam Hussein captured and tried for war crimes. My gripe is with the unoriginal worn-out wording in the print media and television news about our closing in on him. If the noose gets any tighter, I'm going to scream. Surely you know the 'noose' I'm talking about. "The-Noose-Is-Tightening-Around-Saddam" Noose. That's gotta be some motherfucking big-ass noose.

It's Monday....slap on that plastic grin and fake it today.

At the Drum Circle Saturday night, Skye (my daughter) and her friend, Jess, went inside the circle to dance as the drums were being played. She also played someone's drum and was very good. In fact, when she was through, the guru drummer dude bent over with his hands prayer-like and said to her, "My child, you can have it. It's yours." And gave her his handmade drum. She's still floating on air. {this is a pic I found of some folks in Canada online; the Drum Circle we have each night in the summer is huge.}

A steady stream of festival-goers filed through the Jimi Hendrix Traveling Museum to get a taste of the late guitarist's legendary career. This and the drum circle plus other events were part of Asheville's (NC) Bele Chere festival, held annually and billed as the 'Largest Free Outdoor Street Festival in the Southeast'.

Mick Jagger Turns 60 Today!

He'll be onstage in Prague tonight. The location of the party hasn't been disclosed and reports say it will be at the British Embassy, the BBC said. Former Czech President Vaclav Havel is among the guests invited. Jagger was born in Dartford, east of London, on July 26, 1943. He received a knighthood last year.

International Story Rumors of Paul McCartney and Christina Aguilera appearing with the Stones at their SARS benefit Toronto concert Wednesday, July 30. With 3,500 porta-potties already ordered, Downsview Park must be huge.

Local Story A robber with a conscience made a deposit into the drop-off box at the Blockbuster Video on Smoky Park Highway worthy of a Hollywood ending. Wednesday morning in the bin, usually home to movies collecting overdue fees, employees found cash, checks, coins and a note. "I'm sorry I robbed this store and I'm sorry for what I put the two employees through that were working that night," the unknown thief wrote. "I made a mistake so I returned all the money." What's making headlines in your community today?

Regional Story Another old fart mistakenly hit the gas pedal and plowed into the Farmer's Mkt injuring 6 people yesterday. Is a conspiracy taking place at Farmer's Markets now? Who are these fuckwits that mistake their gas pedal for the brakes? I don't think I've ever done that. Not straight, anyway. But if I did, would it take me a whole two minutes or so to realize what I was doing, or would I realize what I'd done after a fraction of a second? To mistakenly stomp on the gas for two whole minutes would give me enough time to balance my checkbook, make a grocery list, apply my makeup, and time left over to realize "Oops, wrong pedal."

WWW Story Blogathon 2003 Today. Better go offer some support as time permits today to Ailina, Witchy, Rickie Beth.....I know I'm forgetting someone else. Leave a comment so I can make the time to drop by.

But now I'm trying out Mozilla Firebird. And so far, real good. It's certainly the fastest broswer, by far. Anyone use it?

Another validation I'm turning into my Mother. In the car this morning, I had to put a pillow behind my back to reach the pedals better. At 5'4", I'm the runt in my family. The way I'd stand by my Mother and pat her head is now being done to me by my daughter. Husband is 6'3", Daughter is 5'11", Son is 5'10". But I was tall in my Mother- Father- Sister-Myself family. My Mother is 5'0", Sister is 5'3", so my 5'4" was tall.
